Updated July 2026.
Yes — LabelGrid registers your music with YouTube Content ID so that videos using your audio are detected and you can monetize, track, or block them. Content ID turns the fan and creator uploads across YouTube into a revenue stream: for Content ID and UGC revenue, 80% goes to the artist (a 20% fee applies). This guide covers how it works, what content is eligible, and how Art Tracks and your Official Artist Channel fit in.
For the platform overview, see the YouTube platform guide.

How Content ID works
Section titled “How Content ID works”Content ID is YouTube’s rights-matching system. When LabelGrid delivers your release, it can register your recording as a reference. YouTube then:
- Fingerprints your reference audio.
- Scans uploads across YouTube for audio that matches your reference.
- Flags a match when another video uses your recording.
- Applies your chosen policy — monetize the video (you earn from it), track it (collect viewing data), or block it.
Because Content ID acts on your recording wherever it appears, it captures revenue from fan uploads, lyric videos, and other user content that would otherwise go unmonetized.
Eligibility: what you can register
Section titled “Eligibility: what you can register”Content ID only works correctly for content you fully own. Registering content you do not own the rights to causes false claims against other creators, and YouTube penalizes it.
Eligible: original recordings where you own or control all the rights.
Not eligible:
- Recordings with uncleared samples you have not licensed.
- Unlicensed covers or remixes of other artists’ work.
- Type beats and other content sold or licensed non-exclusively to multiple people.
- Public-domain-only material with no original recording rights.
- Widely-distributed content where many parties hold copies.
Revenue: 80% to the artist
Section titled “Revenue: 80% to the artist”For Content ID and other UGC revenue, 80% goes to the artist and a 20% fee applies. LabelGrid collects what YouTube pays for matched videos, applies the split, and reports your share in your royalty statements alongside your streaming royalties. Content ID delivery is available on all distribution plans, not just higher tiers.
Art Tracks
Section titled “Art Tracks”Art Tracks are videos YouTube auto-generates by pairing your release’s cover artwork with your audio. LabelGrid generates them for the tracks you distribute, and they appear on both YouTube and YouTube Music. Art Tracks consolidate under your Official Artist Channel, so listeners find your official audio in one place rather than scattered across re-uploads.
Official Artist Channel
Section titled “Official Artist Channel”An Official Artist Channel (OAC) merges your Art Tracks, music videos, and uploads into a single verified channel with the music note badge. LabelGrid submits the OAC request to YouTube on your behalf — you do not self-link it. To qualify you need:
- At least 3 official releases live on YouTube.
- A single-artist channel (not a label or multi-artist channel).
- A channel name that matches your artist metadata exactly.
- At least one public video.
YouTube’s review can take up to 90 days. Once approved, your OAC becomes the home for your Art Tracks and official content.
