Updated July 2026.
Yes — LabelGrid supports automated royalty splits, so every collaborator is paid their share of earnings automatically. Add each contributor and their percentage once, and LabelGrid divides royalties for you every period. Automated splits are a core feature and are included on all standard plans, so you never have to calculate or forward payments by hand.
How royalty splits work at a glance
Section titled “How royalty splits work at a glance”| Step | What you do | What LabelGrid does |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open the release or track you want to split | Loads the split settings for that item |
| 2 | Add each collaborator | Creates a share entry for each contributor |
| 3 | Enter each collaborator’s percentage share (totaling 100%) | Validates that the shares add up correctly |
| 4 | Save the split | Applies the split to all future earnings for that release or track |
| 5 | Wait for royalties to report | Calculates each share automatically every royalty period |
| 6 | Review earnings in your Dashboard | Adds each collaborator’s share to their balance for payout |
What a royalty split is
Section titled “What a royalty split is”A royalty split divides the earnings from a release or track between the people who contributed to it — for example, a producer, a featured artist, a co-writer, or a session player. Instead of one person receiving all the money and paying everyone else manually, you record the agreed percentages once and LabelGrid distributes the royalties automatically each period.
Splits are defined as percentages that total 100%. You can set them at the level LabelGrid supports for your catalog (per release or per track), so a collaborator who only appears on one track is only paid for that track.
Adding a collaborator and their percentage
Section titled “Adding a collaborator and their percentage”To set up a split, open the release or track you want to divide, add the collaborator, and enter their percentage share. Repeat for each contributor until the shares total 100%.
- Add one entry per collaborator. Each person who should receive a share gets their own entry.
- Enter a percentage for each. The percentages must total 100% for the split to be valid.
- Save the split. Once saved, LabelGrid applies it to all earnings for that release or track going forward.
How splits flow into payouts
Section titled “How splits flow into payouts”Once a split is saved, you do not need to do anything else. When DSPs report royalties for the period, LabelGrid:
- Reads the reported earnings for each release and track.
- Applies the split percentages you defined.
- Adds each collaborator’s calculated share to their balance.
Those balances then move through LabelGrid’s monthly payout cycle. There is no fixed minimum payout threshold, although a per-account threshold may apply per the Terms of Service and is shown in your Dashboard.
Paying your artists and collaborators (Artist Payouts)
Section titled “Paying your artists and collaborators (Artist Payouts)”Automated splits determine how much each collaborator earns. To actually pay your artists and collaborators through LabelGrid — rather than exporting statements and paying them yourself — use Artist Payouts, which is available on the Basic plan and above.
Artist Payouts lets you manage artist accounts, track balances, and send payments directly within LabelGrid. See Artist Payouts for the full workflow.
