Creating DJ Charts is a key promotional tool on Beatport.

  • Shows your taste and influences
  • Can include your own tracks and others
  • Featured prominently on the platform
  1. Go to your Beatport artist profile
  2. Click Create DJ Chart
  3. Add 10 tracks (your music and tracks you support)
  4. Write a description
  5. Publish
  • Discovery by fans of the other tracks you feature
  • Tastemaker credibility
  • Charts can be featured by Beatport editors
  • Networking with other artists you include
  • Mix your tracks with tracks from artists you admire
  • Update charts regularly
  • Theme your charts (sets, mood, events)
  • Promote your charts on social media

Beatport exclusivity is set per release, per outlet. Open your release, go to the DSP/outlets tab, and click Customize on Beatport to open its Distribution Settings dialog, then choose a Beatport Exclusivity period.

Options: None (the default — non-exclusive), 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, or Lifetime.

The exclusivity option only appears once Beatport is enabled and approved for your label and Beatport is selected for that release — it’s the only store that supports this. It is not how you enable Beatport; enable Beatport on the label first (see Distribution Requirements).

  • Higher visibility - Exclusive releases may receive priority placement
  • Editorial attention - May be more likely to be featured
  • DJ preference - DJs often seek Beatport exclusives
  • Not available on other download platforms during the exclusivity period
  • May limit total reach
  • Works best for DJ-focused electronic music

Beatport’s Hype Program supports emerging labels and artists:

  • Feature opportunities on Beatport’s front page
  • Genre chart consideration
  • Editorial playlist placement
  • Marketing support
  • Consistent release quality
  • Growing sales momentum
  • Active Beatport presence

Beatport’s core focus is electronic and dance music, with 36+ curated genres including:

  • House - Deep house, tech house, progressive, afro house, soulful house
  • Techno - Peak time/driving, hard techno, minimal/deep tech
  • Drum & Bass - Liquid, neurofunk, jump up, jungle
  • Trance - Progressive, uplifting, psy-trance
  • Dubstep/Bass - Deep dubstep, bass house, future bass
  • Electronica/Downtempo - Ambient, chillout, lo-fi

As of September 2025, Beatport expanded to include open-format genres such as hip-hop, R&B, pop, Latin, Caribbean, and African music. These genres should still be DJ-oriented or electronic-adjacent for the best fit.

Track your performance on Beatport charts:

  • Top 100 - Overall bestsellers
  • Genre charts - Category-specific rankings
  • Hype charts - Emerging releases
  • DJ charts - Curated selections

Beatport provides graphics to share your chart positions:

  • Social media images
  • Embed codes
  • Download badges

  1. Create DJ charts regularly - Shows you’re active in the community
  2. Consider exclusivity - Especially for key releases
  3. Focus on quality over quantity - Beatport buyers are discerning
  4. Engage with the DJ community - Beatport is about culture, not just sales
  5. Monitor your chart positions - Celebrate and share successes
