Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio

Updated July 2026.

Yes — LabelGrid delivers Dolby Atmos spatial audio and high-resolution masters on every plan, at no extra charge. Dolby Atmos places sounds all around the listener for an immersive experience, while hi-res and lossless tiers preserve full studio quality. This guide covers how to prepare and deliver both through LabelGrid.

For the marketing overview, see Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio on labelgrid.com.

MonitoringAtmos-capable speakers or binaural
  • Start with a great stereo mix
  • Think in 3D space
  • Don’t over-pan objects
  • Check binaural translation
  • A/B with stereo frequently

  1. Prepare your files

    • Stereo master (required)
    • ADM BWF Atmos file (for Atmos tracks)
    • Same duration and timing
  2. Upload stereo first

    • Add your track normally
    • Upload the stereo WAV/FLAC
  3. Add Atmos file

    • Open the track editor and click the Dolby tab
    • Enter the ISRC for the Atmos version (a separate ISRC from the stereo version)
    • Use the Click to upload or drag and drop area to upload your ADM BWF file
    • The system validates the file as it uploads
  4. Verify alignment

    • Atmos and stereo must match exactly
    • Same start/end points
    • Same track structure

The system verifies:

  • ✓ Valid ADM BWF format
  • ✓ Correct metadata structure
  • ✓ Duration matches stereo
  • ✓ Proper sample rate
  • ✓ No clipping or errors

Other platformsStereo onlyReceive stereo version

On supported platforms:

  • “Dolby Atmos” badge
  • “Spatial Audio” indicator (Apple)
  • Special playback icon

When Atmos isn’t supported:

  • Stereo version plays automatically
  • No listener action needed
  • Seamless experience

Do:

  • Create intentional spatial placement
  • Use height for atmosphere and effects
  • Maintain strong center/front presence
  • Test on multiple systems
  • Check binaural rendering

Don’t:

  • Put lead vocals in extreme positions
  • Over-use panning gimmicks
  • Ignore the stereo fold-down
  • Rush the Atmos mix
  • Submit poorly rendered files

The following will result in immediate rejection:

  • Stereo upmixing — Automatic or algorithmic upmixing from stereo or mono sources
  • Source separation — Extracting stems from stereo to create an immersive mix
  • Stereo in Atmos container — Placing stereo audio in a Dolby Atmos container format
  • Missing elements — Vocals or instruments missing compared to the stereo version
  • Version mismatch — Different duration, added elements, or a different recording versus stereo
  • LFE abuse — Full-frequency content in the LFE channel (low-pass filter required)

RequirementSpecification
Sync toleranceAtmos and stereo versions must differ by 50 milliseconds or less

Audio sources per trackOnly two allowed (one stereo, one immersive)

Each Dolby Atmos track requires a unique secondary ISRC separate from the stereo version.

“Invalid ADM BWF format”

  • Check file was exported correctly from renderer
  • Verify ADM metadata is present
  • Re-export from Dolby Atmos Renderer

“Duration mismatch”

  • Atmos and stereo must be exact same length
  • Trim to match precisely
  • Check for extra silence

“File too large”

  • Maximum 2GB per file
  • Consider lower sample rate (48kHz)
  • Check for unnecessary data

Not showing as Atmos on platform:

  • Allow 24-48 hours for processing
  • Verify platform supports Atmos
  • Check delivery status in LabelGrid

Sounds wrong on playback:

  • Test on multiple devices
  • Check binaural rendering
  • Verify mix in Dolby tools

”Does LabelGrid support Dolby Atmos and hi-res audio?”

Section titled “”Does LabelGrid support Dolby Atmos and hi-res audio?””

Yes — LabelGrid delivers Dolby Atmos spatial-audio mixes and high-resolution masters on every plan, at no extra charge. Deliver an ADM BWF Atmos file (24-bit LPCM, 48 kHz) with its own ISRC alongside your stereo master, and upload the highest-quality source you have for lossless and hi-res tiers.

”Which platforms support Dolby Atmos?”

Section titled “”Which platforms support Dolby Atmos?””

Apple Music (labeled Spatial Audio), Amazon Music (with an HD/Ultra HD subscription), and TIDAL support Dolby Atmos. Platforms that do not support Atmos automatically play the stereo version, so listeners always get a working playback.

”What file format does a Dolby Atmos mix need?”

Section titled “”What file format does a Dolby Atmos mix need?””

An ADM BWF (Audio Definition Model Broadcast Wave Format) file at 24-bit LPCM, 48 kHz, conforming to the Dolby Atmos Master ADM profile. It must be created from stems or multitracks — not upmixed from stereo — and delivered with a matching stereo fallback.

”Do I need a separate ISRC for the Dolby Atmos version?”

Section titled “”Do I need a separate ISRC for the Dolby Atmos version?””

Yes. Each Dolby Atmos track requires its own ISRC, separate from the stereo version. Enter it in the track editor’s Dolby tab when you upload the ADM BWF file.

”Does Dolby Atmos delivery cost extra?”

Section titled “”Does Dolby Atmos delivery cost extra?””

No. Dolby Atmos and hi-res delivery are included on all LabelGrid plans with no upcharge — you only need the Atmos file and its ISRC.
